Lisa Friedrich is no stranger to smoke and fire, in fact all of Lisa’s works of art are created with a variety of slow burning gunpowder’s, smoke & fire. Lisa came across this dangerous medium while studying for her bachelor’s degree in 2010 at Minnesota State University of Mankato with a focus in Art History and Studio Art. She entered into the Undergraduate Research Conference in 2010 where she was awarded a large-scale grant to study the media of smoke, fire and gunpowder for 8 months. After all tests/experiments were conducted, she presented her research findings and was awarded best presentation in her category.
Since school, Lisa has been continuing her exploration in using fire as her main medium of art. Some of her main influences are well-known Pyrotechnic artists, Ryder Richards, Alphonse Mucha & Cai Guo-Qiang.
Lisa currently resides in Saint Paul, MN, and enjoys making custom artwork for customers along with attending local art fairs throughout the twin cities area.
